19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

He rescued 4 early opportunities in a close final set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
